Little Free Library: My House in Miniature

Turning my house into a miniature neighborhood library—with an editable Blender model, construction plans, and custom parts designed for 3D printing.

See it in action

The porch door opens first, followed by the main door. The roofs and steps stay fixed.

The Challenge

I wanted a neighborhood book-sharing library that looked like a miniature version of my house. The challenge was preserving its character while accommodating books, opening doors, Seattle rain, and a reused kitchen cabinet.

The Solution

I used an AI-assisted workflow to translate house photos and cabinet measurements into an editable Blender model and construction plans. The design combines a protective exterior shell, clear doors, blue shutters, and a fixed porch roof. Optional printable parts include shutter details, cabinet spacers, and PETG stairs split into two halves to fit my Bambu A1.

A closer look

The miniature house library with both clear doors open, revealing its full-width book bay.
One full-width book bay, with the reused cabinet protected inside a new exterior shell.

The Outcome

Produced an editable, animated Blender model, open- and closed-door renders, a 19-page construction plan set, cut lists, and geometry-checked STL files.
