Games I grew up with, reimagined as Greek myths. Plus a few original puzzles.
Olympus arcade
Original puzzles
Tap to flap through the broken columns. Avoid the sea, the stone, and excessive ambition.
Tap the board, press Space, or press the up arrow to flap.
One tap, one flap. Small, steady taps keep you between the columns.
Stay out of the sun. The amber sky heats your wings, faster the higher you fly. At 100%, the wax melts. Descend into the deep blue to cool quickly; the middle air only cools you slowly.
Aim for one more. Every column scores one point. Your best flight is saved on this device.
Keyboard: P or Esc pauses. Space or Enter starts, resumes, or retries. Switching tabs pauses the game.
Icarus×Flappy Bird
Flappy Bird was one of the games I wanted to revisit in this arcade. The Icarus connection made me smile straight away: a game about trying to stay airborne, starring someone famous for getting flight wrong.
Daedalus made wings from feathers and wax so he and his son Icarus could escape Crete. He warned Icarus to keep a middle course. Icarus flew too close to the sun, the wax melted, and he fell into the sea.
Flappy Bird asks you to tap for lift and thread your way through narrow gaps. One small correction can save a run or end it.
Each tap tempts you upward, but the sun makes height dangerous. Keeping Icarus between the sea and the heat turns his father’s warning into something you have to do yourself.
Flappy Bird, with wax wings and a warning from Dad.
Space or ↑ to flap. Fly too close to the sun and the wax melts.
