Carry the stolen fire down Olympus to the villages below, with Zeus's eagle on your heels.
Run, and read the mountain. Prometheus runs by himself. Swipe left or right to change lane. A boulder needs another lane, a crevasse needs a leap (swipe up or tap), and a fallen column needs a slide (swipe down). On a keyboard use the arrow keys or WASD, and Space to leap.
The flame is your light. The storm is dark, and you can only see as far as the fire lights. The flame burns down, kindling feeds it, and every hit costs some.
The eagle is closing in. Each hit lets it gain. If it catches you, it takes the stalk. Run clean and it slowly falls back.
Light the villages. Run through a village gate to light its hearth. The flame returns to full and the eagle drops back. Light all five to finish.
Keyboard: P or Esc pauses. Space or Enter starts, resumes, or retries. Switching tabs pauses the game.
Prometheus×Temple Run
This one started with an image: Prometheus trying to get stolen fire down from Olympus while barely keeping his feet under him. I liked the contrast between a huge, heroic mission and a very undignified journey. My first version borrowed QWOP’s stumbling, but it never felt good, so I rebuilt it as a chase down the mountain.
Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to humanity, defying Zeus. In some tellings he hid it in a hollow fennel stalk to carry it down. In one ancient account, he took fire and technical knowledge from the workshop shared by Hephaestus and Athena.
Temple Run is a 2011 mobile endless runner. Your character runs on their own while you swipe to turn, jump and slide past obstacles, with something chasing close behind.
Prometheus runs down Olympus with the fire in a fennel stalk, and the flame is both his life and his light in the storm. Boulders ask for a lane change, crevasses for a leap and fallen columns for a slide. Each village hearth he reaches is a delivery. Zeus’s eagle is an invented pursuer: in the myth it was Prometheus’s later punishment, here it is on his heels.
Temple Run, down Olympus with the fire and an eagle on your heels.
Arrow keys or WASD: left and right change lane, up or Space leaps, down slides.
